Subarus are supposed to be as reliable as any other Japanese brand, or may more so, and this 2016 Subaru Outback with 177k miles on it is tracking to prove that correct. Despite the weight of years and miles, this car still is in great shape. Mechanically the motor still delivers the torque that is iconic to the boxer motors, and the Symmetrical AWD that is Subaru's signature technology functions flawlessly. The seats are cloth and definitely have been sat in, but there are no tears we've found, and for an ivory colored interior the discoloration is barely noticeable considering the age and miles.
I was selling Subarus new when this was the king of the safety ratings, and this model year was given the prestigious AutoPacific Ideal award for its size class. Customers coming in were regularly shocked and intrigued when they compared the ratings and features of this vehicle to comparable year Japanese SUV crossovers, and ever since those days I've noticed these cars all over the Bay area.
