2016 Ford C-MAX Hybrid SEL

Ford understands comfort. What I was surprised to learn with this car is that they also understand hybrids. Typically I associate hybrids with Japanese brands or at least SUV Crossovers, but this little C-MAX is a joy to drive. It has the power that you get with a hybrid motor system, putting out 188 horsepower for such a small vehicle. And despite it being so easy to drive, it still manages to get a combined 40mpg (42 city/37 highway). Not only is this a budget priced car to buy, it will really help keep your travel costs down whether you're driving up and down the highways all day or just commuting in the urban maze of the Bay Area.

The question of reliability has been a factor ever since hybrids first hit the market, and as previously stated: I don't know much about Ford's hybrid game. I was pleasantly surprised to see while running the CARFAX that in addition to being a 1 owner vehicle with slightly less than average miles per year on it, CARFAX also lists this as a having a good reliability 3 year forecast with low repair costs predicted! Granted there was some minor damage around the wheel well that we had to take to a body shop to get repaired, but that cost and value penalty is packed into our fair price.

And it's still a Ford! Leather seats, keyless entry, remote start, and more, this C-MAX is loaded with convenient features. Additionally, the cars phenomenal red paint job gives it an air of class and sophistication that a hybrid usually can't achieve because . . . well it looks like an economy car. Not so with the Dynamic Red Metallic that balances eye catching pop with deep tones of elegance. Plus it's way easier to find a red car in a parking lot than one of the thousands of black, white, and silver ones out there.
